SUMMARY:Guest Talk: 'Afghanistan in the Age of Empires: Farrukh Husain in conversation with Victoria Schofield.'
DESCRIPTION:Farrukh Husain will be in conversation with Victoria Schofield discussing his acclaimed account of the first Afghan war entitled ‘Afghanistan in the Age of Empires’ detailing the role of Afghan women in combat\, the respective merits of Afghan and British weaponry and how and why the Kabul uprising occurred on the anniversary of the battle of Badr in 1841/17 Ramadan 1257 AH. Today an internet search of the words “Kabul massacre” details the destruction of General Elphinstone’s army yet the many massacres perpetrated in Kabul\, Ghazni and other parts of Afghanistan are hidden by history.
